and ACCORD Hospice!
ACCORD’s Golden Couple have volunteered at the Hospice for 50 years between them have another happy half-century to celebrate. William and Elizabeth Archibald are about to mark their 50th wedding anniversary together – congratulations!
The couple from Renfrew have been devoted to supporting the Hospice, which is very close to their hearts. William said ‘I started by volunteering in 1997 and i’m still volunteering to this day in the finance office. We sort the monies raised and get it ready to go to the bank’. William was inspired to support the Hospice in his spare time by Elizabeth.
William encourages volunteering at the Hospice – ‘It’s important to give something back to the community, you get a personal satisfaction too’. It also gets me up in the mornings, gives me an interest, meeting new people – ACCORD is tremendous’.
Elizabeth has volunteered more than three decades at the Hospice since 1986. ‘ I had a cancer scare and the then great mentor Laurie Morton was very kind, that spurred me on to support ACCORD. The Hospice was in it’s infancy then and the group of people setting up the Hospice inspired me to help.’
Elizabeth has taken on numerous roles at the Hospice in her time volunteering – from Day Care, to the In Patient Unit and Shops. Elizabeth now supports the Hospice by doing some gardening and by being part of the Renfrew Friends of ACCORD group who raise funds each year for the Hospice.
Thank you to William and Elizabeth for all you have done over the years, and continue to do. Enjoy your celebrations!
