I’ve been working in care for 12 years, but it was caring for my auntie, who sadly passed from terminal cancer at 55, that inspired me to work in hospice care. People often ask how I can love such an emotional job. Yes, it's tough, but it's an incredible privilege.

Working for ACCORD @ Home allows me to provide end-of-life care in the comfort of patients' homes, something that wasn’t available for my aunt. Granting this comfort to both patients and their families in their own home means everything to me, and I know it means so much to the families we see each day.

As an ACCORD @ Home Nurse most of my time is spent visiting patients in their homes.

No two days are the same, and we focus on personal care, emotional support, and communication with our Community Nurse Specialist Team. Working with a partner ensures we never face tough moments alone. Families often express deep gratitude for the care we provide, not just for their loved ones but for them too.

Hospice care is about comfort, support, and creating a bright, positive environment, even in difficult times.

When people hear ‘hospice’ they often think of death, but it's so much more than that. Hospice care is about pain management, providing support, and bringing comfort to both patients and their families. While there are sad moments, the atmosphere is often bright and positive. Working in the community with ACCORD @ Home, I see first-hand how much it means for people to spend their final days in the comfort of their own homes.

Hospice care isn’t about death—it’s about making every moment count.
