The Morrisons Foundation has donated £100,000 to ACCORD Hospice, a charity dedicated to providing the communities of Renfrewshire with specialist palliative and end of life care.

The financial assistance from the Foundation has contributed to the much needed refurbishment of the charity’s in-patient unit, helping to create a modern yet homely environment for patients and their families.  The donation supported a larger project to renovate the hospice with improvements to heating and lighting, as well as vital care equipment such as state-of-the-art hoists and beds, all of which ensure the comfort, safety and wellbeing of patients in the charity’s care.

David McFadden, Senior Fundraiser of ACCORD Hospice was thrilled at the support provided by Morrisons Foundation, “The work we have undertaken to improve the facilities at the hospice has been a major investment in the future of our caring services.  We are enormously grateful to the Morrisons Foundation and the people in our communities who have worked so hard and give so generously to supporting the Hospice each year”

“It has certainly been a challenging project, but the outcome has been absolutely sensational; from the en-suite bathrooms and space for families to stay overnight to be with their loved ones, to the patio doors that are now in rooms to provide access to a private patio area, it really is like a home from home where we can provide specialist care 24-hours a day”

Community Champions, Allan Keddie and Sharon (Surname) from the two Morrisons supermarkets in Paisley presented the donation to the charity, “Seeing the difference the donation has made to patients at the hospice is a joy, the new facilities are genuinely remarkable” noted Allan, “We’re massively proud to be able to support such a great local charity”

The Morrisons Foundation was set up by Morrisons supermarket in 2015 and awards grants for charity projects which help improve people’s lives.  Since launching over £24 million has been donated to hundreds of charities across England, Scotland and Wales.
