Sunday 12th June 2016 saw the first ever Rainbow Ramble in aid of ACCORD Hospice. 150 plus participants and some 40 volunteers attended the event to raise money for vital specialist palliative care provided throughout Renfrewshire & East Renfrewshire.

The Rainbow Ramblers began their day in their pristine white t-shirts, neon sunglasses with a Zumba warm-up courtesy of Gemma and Sam of Moving & Giving. Participants kick-started their walk by creating their own rainbow and at points around the Hospice and en route to Barshaw Park and back, were showered with the colours of the rainbow all over again! The powdered paints ACCORD used are biodegradable, environmentally friendly, non-toxic, safe and FDA tested.

The Rainbow Ramble was a huge success in terms of family participation, fundraising and community engagement. Having spoken with participants and seeing their reactions to our Facebook and Twitter pages we are really happy to see that people from within our community and further afield have had a great time raising funds and the profile of the Hospice. Thanks to all who got involved.

All sponsorship monies have yet to be collected but generous donations have been made online and sponsorship is beginning to be handed into ACCORD Hospice on Morton Avenue. The online Just Giving page is still open and any donations made at https://campaign.justgiving.com/charity/accord/rainbowramble would be welcomed and greatly appreciated. The Hospice aims to raise £10,000 and is very hopeful that this target will be met.
