Whilst the risk to individuals remains low, we take the well being of those using or working in the Hospice seriously and appreciate your support in following the current guidance
There are a number of risks posed by CoronaVirus that everyone will need to be aware of, and it is important to remember that the Hospice has a duty of care towards patients and their families, volunteers and staff .
Our service users represent a potentially vulnerable group, particularly those who are in-patients at the Hospice.
We will follow government guidelines when determining necessary steps. These are updated daily and will be monitored by the Hospice’s Senior Management Team.
The virus
The virus is most likely to spread from person to person through:
- direct contact with a person while they are infectious
- contact with droplets when an infected person coughs or sneezes
- touching objects or surface that were contaminated by droplets from secretions coughed or sneezed from an infected person with a confirmed infection.
How you can help – Hygiene measures
The WHO’s standard infection control measures are:
- frequently cleaning hands by using alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water
- when coughing and sneezing cover mouth and nose with flexed elbow or tissue — throw tissue away immediately and wash your hands
- avoid close contact with anyone who has fever and cough
- if you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing seek medical care early and share previous travel history with your health care provider.
